Its sharp white dial has a sunburst pattern that radiates from the center out towards the sturdy titanium case. The luminous hour markers and angled hands are bold enough to be clearly seen in both broad daylight and during the night. Of course, the classic Seiko logo can also be found engraved on the white.

A stunning design utilized in the Seiko Brightz SDGM0001 is the transition finish on the bracelet that you will only see up close. You simply cannot overlook the smooth, consistently polished finish on this watch, from the case to the bracelet. In addition, its in-house 6R15C caliber automatic movement is high-performing and guarantees an accurate keeping of time.

It is more scratch-resistant and also anti-reflective, since it comes with a layer of super clear anti-reflective coating.

This watch also comes in an in-house 8R28 caliber movement that features a column wheel and vertical clutch, representative of traditional Seiko movements. In addition, the Seiko Brightz SAGZ105 is also solar-powered, so it can be conveniently charged using any light source and you don’t have to worry about its battery or winding movement.

This timepiece is made out of a hardy stainless steel case that can withstand scratches and impacts, and a black leather crocodile band that fits comfortably around the wrist. Its screw-down crown is protected by a screwing mechanism, which greatly improves the watch’s water resistance. The Seiko Brightz SAGZ105 retails at only $1,019 USD.

Seiko Brightz's History and Design Details

Since 1881, Seiko has been an expert in manufacturing durable watches across the globe. Seiko’s story started with Kintaro Hattori, a 22-year-old entrepreneur, who had been a skillful watch and clock repair and salesman in Tokyo.

In 1913, the first-ever Japan-made wristwatch by Seiko was produced and marked a breakthrough in the company. It was named The Laurel, and was a representation of Hattori’s exhibited skills and craftsmanship.

The mind behind the innovative Seiko Brightz collection is Chihiro Funamoto, a Seiko watch designer who is also the creative mind behind the designs of the Ananta, Phoenix, and SUS collections. His vision, that drove the designs of Seiko Brightz, was to create legible and alluring watches that every wearer would love.

Funamoto revealed that, in coming up with the design for the Seiko Brightz, he paid a great deal of attention to the three-dimensional visual effect produced by the interplay of light and shadows. He aimed to create a watch whose structure would make use of a variety of light expressions and shadows to provide a reflecting beauty in the timepiece. In doing so, Funamoto paid particular attention to the colors used in the Seiko Brightz’s designs. For instance, some Seiko Brightz timepieces adopt bold dark and ice blue colors, which allows the watch to depict a fine harmony between its luminous markers and deep-colored dials.

Reasons to buy a Seiko Brightz

Like many other renowned international watchmaking brands, Seiko is known for its consistent, continuous innovation and technological advances over the years. That is the primary reason Seiko watches have continued to excel as top-of-the-line models in the watch industry, and this is true of the Seiko Brightz as well. If you aren’t entirely convinced by what you’ve heard so far, here are few more reasons why a Seiko Brightz is certainly worth considering:

1. Unique appearance

As mentioned in their features above, most of the Seiko Brightz timepieces possess textured dials that give them an elegant and classic look. Alongside the dials are the sturdy cases with delicately brushed finishing and intricate angles, perfect for any gentleman. What is truly amazing about this collection is how Seiko designed it with strong colors able to combine well with the interplay of light and shadows.

2. Durable Materials

Though most watch enthusiasts go for Swiss-made watches, Japanese-made pieces are also proven to be extremely durable and efficient. Seiko has been around in the watchmaking industry for more than a hundred years, producing hundreds of tried-and-tested timepieces, and has its own diehard fans who swear by the quality of Seiko watches. For instance, the quartz mechanisms used in Seiko Brightz are all known for being excellent in-house developments and high-accuracy movements.

3. Excellent Reputation

Seiko Brightz comes from a brand that always seizes an opportunity to make its reputation go down in history. Some of Seiko’s remarkable feats include being the official timekeeper of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the FIFA World Cups, and several World Championships sports competitions. Seiko is a brand trusted by professionals and experts around the globe, and its reputation is a testament to the quality of its watches. To date, it remains one of the top competitors in the horology industry, alongside the likes of Citizen, Ulysse Nardin, and Omega

4. In-house Movements

Quartz, solar, spring drive, manual mechanical, automatic, and kinetic are among the many high-performing in-house movements that Seiko has offered over the years. The Seiko Brightz, in particular, makes use of top-notch solar and quartz movements that help the timepieces precisely and accurately tell the time.

Some of the popular calibers in this collection are the 8B63, 7B27, 6R15C, and 8B92 calibers. These movements are high in precision and known for their durability, with each being able to last more than a decade. Furthermore, instead of relying on batteries, most of these calibers are solar-powered. This means that they can be charged with any source of light, however weak, making them sustainable and environmentally friendly.
